“Pages of Ferry Street” June 12th in Newark, NJ

On Tuesday, June 12th at 6:00 pm, Newark, New Jersey will be the backdrop for “Pages of Ferry Street / Ler na Ferry Street”. Listen to readings from the acclaimed Portuguese writer José Luis Peixoto and five Portuguese-American writers Glória de Melo, Carlos J. Queirós, Luis Pires, Oona Patrick and Ana Sofia Paiva, and enjoy live music in the Sport Club Português.
“Pages of Ferry Street / Ler na Ferry Street” brings authors together with the local Portuguese-American community to enjoy our Literature during the week when we celebrate Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities Abroad. The authors will be discussing their books and reading excerpts for the audience.
Following the readings, the Tuna Universitária do Instituto Superior Técnico will offer a live musical performance. Books by the participating authors and others will be available for sale on site, provided by Atlantico Books. Following the readings and musical performance is a cocktail hour, when guests will have the chance to meet and speak with the authors.
The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome. For those unable to travel to Newark, New Jersey, this event will be transmitted live by the Livestream of the Arte Institute that can also be accessed from the Arte Institute’s Facebook page.
