Guidelines
We are always grateful when we receive book and article reviews from other researchers. Please read the following guidelines for submission, designed to help ensure that your review is appropriate for submission.
There are a few hard and fast rules that are non-negotiable. We review every old or new published book or article about Portuguese-Americans and the teaching of the Portuguese language in the United States. Reviews of non-published books or articles will not be accepted. We want our readers to be able to have access to the books and articles reviewed. For reviews beyond the scope of this project, the editors will decide based on factors having to do with quality or potential interest to Portuguese-American Studies.
Always try to stay positive, you can always find positive aspects about any book or article, even if you have to stress its weaknesses. Remember that we are trying to convey the information in the book or article in a succinct way so that future researchers may quickly decide if that book or article is of interest to their present research and thus make the process more efficient.
If you would like to submit a review of a book or article, please start by contacting us (Lmcrg@hotmail.com) with the title of the book or article that you would like to review and its bibliographic reference. We will not accept reviews of books or articles that have already been reviewed in the Portuguese-American Review. If you would prefer, you can contact us and we will propose a book or article for you to review.
We reserve the right to make any changes to the content that we see fit, but the review will not be published without your agreement to those changes. It is important that you include certain standard information: where it was published, publication date (the more exact, the better), ISBN, page count, etc.
